Autumnal Equinox

During the autumnal equinox, the Earth’s axis and its orbit line up so that both hemispheres get an equal amount of sunlight. This astronomical event marks the official beginning of fall in the Northern Hemisphere, with the sun rising directly due east and setting due west, and the days starting to grow shorter as nights lengthen.

Traditions for the autumn equinox focus on harvest, balance, and gratitude for the bounty of the season, while also preparing for the coming darkness of winter, symbolizing the harvest of the year's efforts and the preparation to turn inward for rest and renewal. It marks a natural point of equilibrium on Earth, encouraging a similar internal balance and a time to harvest blessings, reflect on lessons learned, and release what no longer serves, making space for new growth.
